What natural remedies can I take for Depression?

December 31st, 2009

I am a 40 yr old male with clinical depression and anxiety. Currently, I am under a physicians care and on prescription medication. However, I heard certain foods and natural remedies can help with emotions and endorphins. I want to eat healthier and live fairly close by to Whole Foods Supermarket? Can anyone help me?

I drink St. John’s Wort tea. It’s one of the more traditional herbs used to treat depression and anxiety. If you can, go for Traditional Medicinals brand. They’re the only tea brand I’ve ever heard of to use medicine-grade herbs in their teas.

I brought the tea to my doctor, and she told me it wouldn’t react adversely with my prescriptions, but it’s always good to check depending on what you are on. Particularly with mood-altering meds.

Endorphins are also good, and you can get them by exercising. For an extra boost, try some positively-reinforcing yoga. Yoga is great because not only does it work out your whole body and stretch your muscles, but it’s a way to work out that’s also soothing to your mind. Regulating your breathing and meditating can also add to your overall mental health.

I’ve included some of my favorites below. :) Good luck! Depression is a heck of a journey, and we all need what help we can get.

Are there any natural cures for bronchiectasis?

December 31st, 2009

I would like natural or herbal cures, which do not have side affects. Please only reply if you have used the cure and found it effective.

Yes, of course there are. Lots of them. The reason that you won’t be prescribed them at a hospital is because doctors just love to make their patients suffer unnecessarily. It’s why they went into medicine.

Get a grip.

I am seeking natural, herbal, holistic ideas/remedies for chemo-related nausea. HELP! :)?

December 31st, 2009

Thanks in advance for your assistance and insight.

I am in search of ANY remedies which are natural and safe. The nausea my friend is experiencing due to chemo treatments (and high levels of morphine for pain) is absolutely torturous; present at every moment of her day.

I have a few ideas from my limited studies in herbalism, but PLEASE enlighten me with any ideas you may have. I am interested in anything from teas to soups, poultices to bath preparations. Her specific cancer type is: bone, lung, retinal and lyphatic.

Thank you so much.

By the symptoms you have given here her remedy is the Homeopathic Remedy ARSENICUM ALBUM in 30C potency three times a day half an hour before meals. ARSENICUM ALBUM is a remedy par excellence in treating and curing Cancer. To read more about this remedy please click the link :- http://homeoint.org/books/boericmm/a/ars.htm

I have used this remedy on Cancer patients especially in bones and brain tumors with nothing short of amazing results. If you can email me her exact symptoms I can help you lots better but this remedy still remains her top remedy. I am reasonably sure that this remedy alone can cure her completely and mark my words she is going to start feeling better within three doses of it just do not discontinue it till she feels 100% better and keep me posted about her progress regularly. But you must read about it very carefully so you know why I have suggested this remedy. Feel free to email me if you need to ask anything. Her Doctor may object to the use of Homeopathy. It will compliment her conventional medicine and will not react with any of her regular medications and Chemotherapy nor will it give her any side effects GUARANTEED.

Take Care and God Bless you and your loved ones

I am interested in alternative and herbal remedies. What kinds of careers would be good for me?

December 31st, 2009

I am deeply interested in herbal remedies and alternative medicine. Is there any kind of job market for this to consider pursuing an education towards it?
It’s not a scam Charles. Quit being brainwashed and go take your RX’s

It really depends on your preferences (good at science, good at writing, good at math, good with business, etc).

Yes, there is some demand for people skilled in natural therapies. Actually, it is one of the fastest growing fields of business as people seek other alternatives to “Traditional” medicine

1 – Massage and Bodywork – Including Aromatherapy, Reiki, Craniosacral Therapy, Reflexology, Rolfing, Polarity Therapy, Massage
2 – Osteopathic Medicine
3 – Chiropractic Medicine
4 – Naturopathic Medicine
5 – Ayurvedic Medicine
6 – Allopathic (Western/Traditional) Medicine with a focus and intent on encouraging a change towards natural alternatives – If you can’t beat em’, Join em’. Then BEAT THEM!
7 – Nutritionist
8 – Psychotherapy
9 – Therapeutic Hypnotist
10 – Nursing (again with the focus and intent on natural medicine)

Again, all of these ideas seem to be on the upswing. People are looking for other approaches.

Of course, there is also nothing wrong with being in business and supporting these people, or being a business consultant to people trying to run natural businesses.

Talk to people in the field. I love talking with like-minded and interested people about what I do and helping them find their path.

Good luck.

What natural remedies can be used to lighten hair color?

Which is the best cleansing program for natural cures?

December 27th, 2009

I have read and watched so much media about cleansing programs and would like to know from your experience which program is the best in terms of effectiveness and cost aimed at natural cures.

I’m glad you are looking for something natural to help cure and balance your body. I’m sure a cleanse will work wonders for you.

Let me make a suggestion…
Cleansing is great, and vital to your health, but you need to do it correctly. The purpose of a cleanse (especially if you are fighting a degenerative or chronic disease) is to detox your body AND give your body the nutrients it needs to regenerate clean, healthy cells.

Most cleanses — like the master cleanse — do detox your body, but do nothing for restoring balance to your system. For example, your body is building about 1 billion new cells each day. If you cleanse without flooding your body with super-absorbable nutrients, your body has to create new cells out of whatever is left over in your system after your cleanse– which is usually mineral, vitamin, protein and fat deficient.

Instead, I would do a nutritional cleanse. These cleanses flush your entire system (colon included) of all the junk, while simultaneously flooding your cells with super nutrition. This way, when your body starts building new cells — they are made out of the best "parts" available.

This will help your body regenerate parts of your body that need help (i.e., new pancreas cells if you are diabetic, new skin cells if your suffer from eczema/psoriasis, new neural cells if you suffer from emotional imbalances). Other benefits of this type of cleanse are: eliminating unhealthy cravings, weight loss, better sleep, more energy, sharp intellect and clear skin.

Of course, I am biased, and completely endorse the Isagenix product line :) Here’s a video that explains the Isagenix nutritional cleanses — it’s only a few minutes long…

What are some Holistic Remedies to deal w/Chronic allergies?

December 27th, 2009

I have had chronic allergies since forever. Chronic post nasal drip, puffy eyes in the morning, itchy eyes. Really I have become used to it. But for two weeks I was takign Claritin and some nasanex spray, it cleared me right up. My voice sounded more clear, and I did not have to chew gum all day to fix my breeath. It was awesome, except the claritin kept me up all night long. The nasal spray alone did nothing to help. I havent called my allergy dr yet, I am wanting to try something more natural. Anyone had any luck and want to share?

maybe "bee pollen."..BUT FIRST SEE A HERBOLOGIST…OR GO TO A HERB STORE…or look on the internet for natural products with regards to allergies….

Do Natural Hair Loss Cures Actually Work?

March 17th, 2010

The most frequently prescribed remedies for hereditary pattern baldness by dermatologists and hair loss clinics are Propecia, or some other form of finasteride, such as Proscar, and Rogaine/Regaine, or its generic form – minoxidil. Some doctors will also recommend you to use supplementary vitamin and mineral pills, some special shampoos, such as Nizoral, and a laser comb. But very few dermatologists and hair loss clinics will recommend their patients buy natural hair loss treatments. But there are so many of them out there and most of them claim that they work better than Propecia or any other medicinal drug prescribed by your doctor, while being free of potential negative side effects so typical of prescription medicine. And some of the manufacturers seem to be so convinced about the effectiveness of their product as to offer you a full money back guarantee. Or is it a catch?

First, one needs to differentiate between medical practice and the pharmaceutical industry on one hand and the cosmetics industry on the other. The medicinal and pharmaceuticals fields are strictly regulated in almost every country in the world, ensuring patient safety. Doctors can only prescribe permitted medications for certain conditions and the safety and efficacy of such medications has to be approved by the national health supervisory authority. Such products are considered safe and clinically proven to help treat the given condition. If your doctor recommends you some other, unproven cosmetic hair loss product, they will be taking the risk of supporting a treatment that has not been subjected to any rigorous clinical examination. Most doctors would not do that since they have no guarantee that such a product would be beneficial to their patients and recommending a bad product could hurt their reputation.

Although some of the active ingredients in natural hair loss treatments may pose a health risk, such as saw palmetto (read: http://www.greyhairloss.com/blog/saw-palmetto.html), despite the common belief that they are safe, this is not their main controversy. The principal question is whether the natural hair loss remedies are effective in treating hereditary baldness. They might be effective to a certain degree since many of them contain minoxidil, the only existing clinically-proven and FDA-approved topical medicine for treating hereditary baldness. Additional components usually include minerals, vitamins, proteins, essential fatty acids and herbal extracts. Most of these substances are either essential to ensuring healthy growth of hair and skin or they have been shown to promote new hair growth, mostly in small studies conducted on rodents. They have never been clinically tested for treating baldness and thus their effectiveness and mechanism of action are unknown. They may or may not help promote hair growth but since no clinical proof of their efficacy exists, the only way to find out is to buy them and try for yourself. And should they fail to work as promised, you may find out that the generous money-back guarantee, after deducting their incurred costs, only applies to a small fraction of the original price. This is the way some natural hair loss product manufacturers earn their money.

In summary, no natural hair loss cure has ever been clinically proven and independently verified to treat hereditary hair loss. This does not necessarily mean that all natural hair loss treatments are ineffective as they might work for some of us. However, they are usually overpriced and should at best be expected to maintain your existing hair rather than grow new hair from a bald patch.

All Natural Skin Care Treatments For Your Particular Skin Type

March 17th, 2010

Skin is your largest and most visible organ since it covers the entire body. Having attractive, healthy skin starts from the inside and reflects on the outside. The first step towards taking proper care of your skin is to determine what type of skin you are in right now. The American Academy of Dermatology acknowledges several different types of skin. Your skin type can also change depending upon certain internal factors, such as health problems, hormonal imbalances or taking certain medications.

The following are guidelines to help you identify your particular kind of skin and choose products with all natural skin care ingredients that are suitable for it:

Normal: This type of skin is neither exceedingly dry or oily and usually has no blemishes or discolorations. Natural treatments include chamomile, cypress, camphor, rose, lavender, rosemary, sweet almond oil, grape seed and soy.

Dry: If you skin is flaky, ashy, and tight but lacking in elasticity, you have dry skin. herbal remedies include orange, jasmine, carrot seed, avocado, calendula, rose hips and rice bran.

Oily: Skin that appears slick or shiny with enlarged pores is considered oily. A tissue rubbed against this skin will have oily residue on it from all areas of your face. Helpful herbs include lemongrass, peppermint, thyme, cedar wood, geranium, patchouli, hazelnut, olive and refined coconut oil.

Combination: If you have combination skin, your forehead, chin and nose are oily and there are dry patches near your hair and jaw lines. When you rub a tissue on your skin and only the “t-zone” areas around your forehead, nose and chin yield oily residue, then you surely have combination skin. holistic solutions for combination skin include ylang ylang, rosewood, sweet orange, jojoba and apricot.

Acne-prone: Skin with enlarged pores that is disposed to clogging, blackheads, whiteheads, cysts and redness is acne-prone. Herbal remedies such as tea tree oil, manuka, basil, mint, grapefruit, coriander, lime, hazelnut and grape seed are often used for acne-prone skin.

Sensitive: This type of skin is often blotchy and prone to redness, rashes and irritation. Natural treatments with rose, jasmine, carrot, almond, sesame, calendula and jojoba have been effective and are usually non-irritating.

Water is another simple, all natural skin care solution for people with all types of skin to keep hydrated. Experts have found that healthy skin is promoted by consuming water equal to half of your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you would drink 75 ounces of water a day for maximum health benefits. Furthermore, the simplest and most effective skin care regime includes a using a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen all year round.

By figuring out your individual skin type, you can incorporate all natural skin care products into a simple routine to enhance the health of your skin so that you can look and feel your best everyday.
