Is there a type of concrete that expands as it cures?
February 5th, 2010 | by admin |I have to fill in under a section of foundation where the soil has washed away. I thought something that expands sligtly as it cures would be good.
I believe hydraulic cement expands as it cures and is used for setting anchors in concrete because of this. Check with your local home center

I agree with Tsunami, the only type of cement that I know expands while it cures is Hydraulic cement. I’ve seen it used to plug holes in foundation walls where pipes go to the outside, and to plug holes in chimneys.
The only down fall of hydraulic cement, is that you have to work VERY FAST with it. The good thing of hydraulic cement is that it cures within 10 – 20 minutes of mixing it. So don’t mix more than need for your job. And your job is done in just that fast of time.
