I can’t believe that nobody mentioned lactobacislis. LactoBacillis is a bacteria taken in capsule form. The theory is to promote the natural balance in the gut to ward off the viruses. Now days they call them "probiotic". The best source is a home made drink called Kefir.
Pharmacist for 30 years, just starting to see the benefits of natural balance.
L lycine is well worth a try. Anything that keeps your immune system in shape, will have a positive effect. You always will have this virus in your body, it only shows up when your immune system is week. Hmmm, maybe that is why they call them "cold" sores. Also try coconut oil and iodine supplements (hard to find)

i have had cold sores my whole life. as soon as i feel one coming on i take two L-Lysine pills. It is an amino acid that your body doesn’t produce, or doesn’t produce enough of. 99% of the time the cold sore never comes, and when it does come it is not as swollen or noticeable. good luck

There are no remedies (holistic or otherwise) for cold sores. Cold sores are caused by a virus and a virus can’t be remedied or cured.

Give it a little time and you will forget about it. Don’t waste your money on any products (except maybe some makeup to cover up).

While there is no cure for cold sores (fever blisters) there are medications and remedies that can be useful in their treatment and management. Like Abreva. Ice also removes pain and itching.

i know what works great …..anti bacterial hand stuff…..keep putting it on there it will sting but once it stops stinging that means its going away

Teatree, I've heard is good . . . But ice cubes numb the pain!!! I tend to stick with Zovirax, as nothing else stops the stinging feeling.
