do you know of any natural cures for a mild swollen gum infection?

February 16th, 2010 | by admin |

i may have the beginings of a absis from a recent crown. i am curious to know if there are any possible natural cures. i wish to avoid antibiotics if possible. i know clove may help with pain for example. i am not sure if it can fight infectio? thanks for your att.

Natural potent antibiotics are grapefruit seed extract and oregano oil. You only really need to try one or the other. I would probably opt for grapefruit seed extract. Follow the instructions on the bottle or run a search for more information. It is now being used in some US hospitals to help combat the MRSA infection. It is thus pretty potent stuff. But I think a re-visit to the dentist is in order because if you do have an abscess it might need draining or flushing out.

Take Ibuprofen for the pain. But get the appointment booked at the dentist if you want to avoid emergency treatment costs. It might be that any treatment you may need might fall within the costs of your current crown treatment if it was very recent.

Good luck and best wishes.

some oil of oregano oil and capsules

with the oil gargle with some water
take the capsules internally to aid in the infection; inside working out.

i have a partially erupted wisdom tooth that has given me a few absesses over the last few months. first time i had antibiotics and then christmas time when it happened again, i was in the middle of important exams and couldnt afford to let it swell so much that i couldnt shut my mouth or eat, so what i did was…

took multivitamins to boost my immune system
    took ibuprofen for the pain
    gargled with salt water
then i took an onion and cut a small slice, and placed it on the gum and kept it there for 5 mins (it didnt sting like you might think it would)
then i chewed that onion slice on that side( onion will kill all the bacteria in your mouth)
later before going to bed i made a cup of chamomile tea and took mouthfuls of it swishing it around in my mouth then spitting it out. did this till the cup was empty.

the next day when i managed to get an emergency app at the dentist, i didnt have anything to show him lol, it looked back to normal and i felt kinda silly!

he did give me antibiotics( but i didnt use them) and a mouth wash corsodyl (which never seems to work) but over the next few days i continued with the multi vits and also took garlic tablets. (didnt need to do the onion/chamomile again) garlic is a natural antibiotic and antiviral

Theres a reason they use it in toothpaste –

    Peppermint (Mentha Piperita).

It will help with the pain and it will help with infection. However, whether it will "cure" it depends on just what is going on in there.

See if you can get a fresh plant – in this case, it really is better. Then seep some leaves in hot water (recently boiled) until it cools down enough to drink.

If you cant get the plant, get the herb from a reputable, certified supplier, like mountainroseherbs.com. or achs.edu storefront.

fyi, garlic is also good at healing infection.
